Day 11: The GREAT Great Barrier Reef!

Treat of the Day: Floating over the GBR, with the sunlight hitting the coral and the voluminous fish and you're reminded of God's creativity and glory! What a great treat!

We departed at 7, took a sweet catamaran to the floating research pontoon, and from there, boarded a glass bottom sub to circle the pontoon. Good and bad news.  The good news is that a giant travalle was following us most of the way and we saw so many fish and tons of beautiful coral.  The bad news is the underwater sub was rocking so hard I was in a cold sweat for the 30 minute ride while the poor woman behind Peggy lost her breakfast, last night's dinner and practically everything she ate for the last 7 days. It's all good now as the ginger pills did a great job for me (not sure about the lady) !

Peggy loving the GBR!!!

Truly spectacular sites of glowing coral, scores of fish species and a giant sea turtle made this a once in a lifetime treat!
From a submersible, a giant travalle!

Undaunted we head to the GBR at 7am.

There was an intense thunderstorm we passed through on the way to the research pontoon, and this picture was taken just before the deluge. The pontoon had marine biologists, cultural experts, a glass bottom boat that we didn't take since we rode the underwater sub, all the gear, a viewing zone with glass below deck etc.  Pretty awesome!

By dinner time, even Steve couldn't finish everyone's dessert!

No mas!
