Day 27: Disembarkation, bus transfer to airport, car rental and new vrbo for 3 nights!

Treat of the Day: Thankful for God's provision of health, logistic support, safety, joy and experiencing the highs of family travel (even when it's stressful).

Feeling sufficiently healthy for the intense process of disembarking, taking a bus to the airport in Auckland just to rent 2 cars, then driving back to the cruise port on the "wrong" side of the road, only to have another 45 minute single file passenger pick up line before getting all 8 of us loaded in the cars. Steve and Elva headed directly to the airport for their return flight (ours is Sunday, with Kevin, CJ , Dave and grandkids heading back on Monday).

We both enjoyed flipping the wipers on each time we wanted the turn signal.

It is a farming country, so just Chillin! 

By God's grace we then made it about an hour and a half south to our country house vrbo. It's lovely and positions us for a visit tomorrow to Hobbitton and on Saturday to Glow Worm caves. 

A private country villa on 5 acres with 5 bedrooms and the kids love it!

Casual unpacking, some relaxing games amen we went to The Office for dinner. 
Love the name and the food was very good

Came home for some Hand and Foot (Peggy won again), but in my defeat I enjoyed the lovely sunset. 

Looking forward to sunrise over the giant mountain range behind us.

30 days...1 large 1 carry on each.  Not bad! Treat of the Day : wanting to pack light had always been the goal... doing it is sublime!  Australia 2/11-2/22 and New Zealand 2/22-3/5  15 hours in the air is no joke... but discovering that t mobile customers can access the internet makes for more distraction.  And, of course watching Return of the King, has aided my memory for the New Zealand portion of this adventure!  Traveling Buds!  Creature comforts were a big help!

Day 2,3: Sydney's Wildlife Retreat

Treat of the Day : I'm excited for the very positive response people have had receiving a copy of God's Word: Waiter at Polaris club, luggage handler at Sydney airport, Uber driver to the hotel, front desk attendant at the hotel... all so thankful!  The hotel is contained in a Wildlife retreat with great views of the Sydney skyline.  Hotel patio overlooking Sydney Top floor only open for special events.  Which I thought taking this photo perfectly fit the criteria!  The lobby of the wildlife retreat Some beautiful local animals right outside our window... Wallaby and carrot!  Long nosed Potoroo... of course!  Echidna is a monotreme... look it up, as it's pretty cool!  Chillin... the name of their game!  Great colors from a Cassowary... It's a highlight seeing them up close and personal.  We also had a nice sunset view of the city skyline from our dinner table.

Day 4: 1st full day in Sydney

Treat of the Day: realizing that whatever the Opera House cost to build, it was a stroke of Marketing genius!  Slept great and awoke to a koala staring at me when I opened the blinds.  I think he's saying...G'Day Mate!  A lovely breakfast with Steve and Elva overlooking the 2nd largest natural harbor in the world .  Always smiling and ready to explore!  Stunning sun shiny day... The group enjoyed a private car tour with Fiona, as we visited Bondi beach, the Centennial Park , Mrs. MacQuarie's Chair and the Opera House .  Bondi pronounced Bond-eye... Fiona was fun, and she was blessed to receive a New Testament!  A sweet ferry ride back to the hotel!  Tigers are us!  Big Daddy! Finishing the night with a light meal on the sunset patio,  playing hand and foot. (Peggy won... and it won't be the first time!
